Gorelord: Norwegian chainsaw massacre

If you want it heavy, you can start downloading already, ‘cause this sure as fuck is the heaviest platter ever to be conceived on Norwegian soil. I know, I know, we are famous for black metal bands with about as much substance as Kate Moss on a diet of cocaine and sperm. But it still means something. This IS heavy beyond mere words. We are talking God Among Insects and more here people. The two of you, I’m looking straight at ya.
There are many things to hate on “NCM,” at least if you detest drum-machines, Korn and good, crushing metal. I’m no fan of Korn myself, but a rotten zombie variant of said band is fucking straight up my alley. I didn’t know that. To get a a good grasp on what to expect, envision Mortician and Korn put together, detract worthless samples and mindless blasting, both courtesy of Mortician, and then remove any hints of whining about getting ass fucked as a juvenile, courtesy of Korn. That’s Gorelord for ya, at least on this album. Most of the time.
You see, I’ve noticed a peculiar thing about this release. It sounds like two EP’s smacked together. After “Hammered” the music turns more brutal and serious, perhaps more to the liking of purist gore metal fans. I like both styles, both the mean and the catchy one, but I do find “Glorification of violence” an unnecessary addition. It sounds like an unmastered demo track to me. If there are any trve gore metal fans out there I bet this’ll be their favorite.
Norway may only have one gore metal band to show for, but at least it is a good one at it. Every reader here at GD should try this album after a six-pack and a joint.
